In a surprising crossover event that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Uncovered

According to the formal release, "A mysterious confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous changes resonate through the darkness." The storyline features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret cult.

The questline focuses on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Transformations

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Features

Players who accomplish the mission will receive an special katana in addition to several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Addition

This update also adds the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
