A quartet of persons lost their lives in Nairobi when law enforcement discharged weapons and deployed teargas to scatter enormous assemblies at a venue where political figure Raila Odinga's body was displayed for homage.

Odinga, who was a prominent player in the country's governance for decades, passed away on Wednesday at 80 years old while in hospital care in the subcontinent.

Countless devotees gathered on thoroughfares from early morning, with chaos breaking out when enormous throng breached a barrier at Nairobi's main stadium, leading to armed forces to discharge weapons upward.

Airport Incident and Government Building Situation

Previously that day, numerous of mourners temporarily invaded Nairobi's international airport, halting a formal proceeding where President William Ruto and other officials were accepting Odinga's body with armed forces tribute.

This incident prompted a two-hour suspension of flight activities.

Assemblies also flooded adjacent streets and tried to enter parliament, where the administration had initially planned the open visitation.

Political Impact and Ethnic Support

Though mainly known as an opposition figure, Odinga served as senior minister in 2008 and also formed a political pact with the president last year in a career defined by changing partnerships.

He commanded passionate devotion among supporters, notably in his cultural background based in western Kenya, many of whom contend he was prevented from obtaining the presidency by electoral fraud.

Many of Odinga's supporters, who were not yet born in 1991 when Kenya became a multi-party democracy, paid tribute to Odinga's efforts as an campaigner.
